Settings

Configure model-supported settings for instruments connected to NaviGuard. Only settings with a documented control and confirmation path are available.

Model-dependent capability: Available information and controls depend on the connected instrument model and the installed NaviGuard software.

Before you start

Use this procedure only when the delivered NaviGuard documentation lists the setting for the connected model and provides an approved confirmation path. Otherwise, use the lantern connection for monitoring only.

Lantern settings

Setting Customer selection NaviGuard behaviour
Nominal Range Required range in nautical miles (NM) Offers only values supported by the exact model profile and converts the selected NM value to the lantern-native setting.
Primary Flash Character Readable character from the approved list for the selected model Stores the normal flash character for the lantern.
Alternate Flash Character Second readable character for a model that supports two stored characters Stores the optional alternate character without exposing the manufacturer-specific code.
Select Active Character Primary or Alternate Changes which stored character the lantern uses when the connected model supports changeover.
Day/Night Switching Switch On Below and Switch Off Above thresholds Offers the units and permitted values defined by the selected model profile.

Nominal range

Select the required nominal range in NM. NaviGuard uses the confirmed model, variant, colour, optic, and flash character to determine the available values. A lantern-native power percentage is not shown as the normal customer setting.

If an approved conversion is not available for the selected lantern profile, Nominal Range is unavailable. Do not estimate a value from a percentage.

Flash characters

Select the primary character from the Flash Characters list. For models that support two stored characters, select an alternate character from the same list and choose which character is active. NaviGuard performs the model-specific mapping.

1 = Alternate

Day/night switching

Use Switch On Below to define when the lantern changes to its night operating state. Use Switch Off Above to define when it leaves that state. NaviGuard provides only the values and units supported by the selected model profile.

Switch off above

NAGLUXOFF#1..6Values supported by the selected lanternSwitch-off level in luxCurrent lantern valueNAGLUXOFF1 <lux>

Replace # with the NaviGuard signalling slot from 1 to 6. Exact permitted values are supplied by the connected model profile. If that profile does not provide an approved range, the parameter is not available.

Operating-mode parameters are listed by lantern model under Supported Settings.

Apply a setting

  1. Select the device slot and check the confirmed lantern model.
  2. Select one available setting and choose an allowed value.
  3. Submit the change.
  4. Wait for bounded readback or the approved model-specific confirmation.
  5. Continue only when the confirmed value matches the requested value.

Verify

If a setting fails

Stop changing settings. Record the connected model, previous value, requested value, and displayed result. Recheck the model and communication setup before escalating the issue.

Next step

Return to NaviGuard Overview after the settings have been verified.
