WeatherStation DataGuard setup

Use this page when WeatherStation sensor values must be reported to Emiko through DataGuard. Configure and verify the source value first, then configure DataGuard reporting for the same source channel or driver profile.

WeatherStation defaults

Setting WeatherStation default Use
DEVEQT# 23 Reports a decoded driver value under WeatherStation (WST) in Emiko.
DEVDATATYPE# 8000 Reports the Thies Hydro Termo Baro package: QC, temperature, pressure, and humidity.
DEVLOGDATA# 1 for current supported periodic driver export Enables periodic logging and export for the decoded driver value.

Complete setup workflow

  1. Select the instrument and connection path from Supported instruments.
  2. Configure the source value: driver profile, analog input, digital/counter input, or 1-Wire channel.
  3. Verify that the source value is fresh and plausible.
  4. Configure DataGuard reporting for the same channel or profile index.
  5. Verify that the value appears under WeatherStation in Emiko.

Thies Hydro Termo Baro package

Use the Thies package when one supported Thies Hydro Termo Baro driver profile should send air temperature, barometric pressure, and relative humidity to Emiko.

Parameter Value Result
DEVEQT# 23 WeatherStation equipment type.
DEVDATATYPE# 8000 Sends DTY 1129 QC, DTY 1101 temperature, DTY 1102 pressure, and DTY 1103 humidity.
DEVLOGDATA# 1 for current supported periodic driver export Enables periodic logging and export for the decoded Thies values.

Configure the Thies profile from Device Model Communication Setup. Use the same profile index for the DataGuard driver settings.

Thies single values

Use a single value only when the installation should send one Thies value instead of the full package.

Analog and 1-Wire values

Use the source-specific DataGuard page when the value comes from analog input or 1-Wire instead of a decoded driver profile.

Analog wind direction transmitter

Use the analog wind direction path when the WeatherStation installation uses an analog wind direction transmitter on an analog input. Generic transmitters use the 9000..9006 selectors. The NRG 200M wind vane uses voltage AI with VRDATATYPE#=9012. The RNRG/NRG 200P wind vane uses voltage AI with VRDATATYPE#=9013.

The 9000..9006 values choose DataGuard wind-direction calculations. They do not identify the exact mounted sensor model. Confirm the physical wind-direction sensor from the installation or delivery documentation, then configure the analog source so it represents 0..360 degrees. Use 9012 only when the installed sensor is the NRG 200M wind vane. Use 9013 only when the installed sensor is the RNRG/NRG 200P wind vane on a supported voltage input.

VRDATATYPE# Output Use
1106 DTY 1106 Current wind direction.
9000 DTY 1117 Wind direction state/QC.
9001 DTY 1118 after coverage 10-minute circular mean wind direction; sends DTY 1117 before coverage.
9002 DTY 1119 after coverage 10-minute wind direction spread; sends DTY 1117 before coverage.
9004 Warmup DTY 1117, DTY 1120, DTY 1121; after 10-minute coverage DTY 1117, DTY 1118, DTY 1119 10-minute package with 2-minute warmup package before the 10-minute history is complete.
9012 DTY 1117, DTY 1118, DTY 1119; warmup DTY 1120, DTY 1121 NRG 200M voltage wind vane. DataGuard converts 0.007 to 2.5 VDC with degrees = volts * 147.91 - 1.460, applies VRLIN# after conversion, and uses the same staged package timing as 9004.
9013 DTY 1117, DTY 1118, DTY 1119; warmup DTY 1120, DTY 1121 RNRG/NRG 200P voltage wind vane. DataGuard converts the conditioned mV range from TMIN# and TMAX# with degrees = 4 + ratio * 352, applies VRLIN# after conversion, and uses the same staged package timing as 9004.
9005 DTY 1120 after coverage 2-minute circular mean wind direction; sends DTY 1117 before coverage.
9006 DTY 1117, DTY 1120, DTY 1121 2-minute package; sends DTY 1117 before coverage.

For the shared QC bitmask used by DTY 1117, see DataGuard QC Bitmask.

NRG 200M voltage wind vane

Use VRDATATYPE#=9012 only for the NRG 200M wind vane on voltage AI. Supported input types are VRTYPE#=2, 4, or 5. VRTYPE#=0 / 4-20 mA is unsupported for this selector and reports configuration QC.

Wind-direction output values use degrees x 0,01. A payload value of 36000 means 360,00 degrees / north.

Parameter Example value Meaning
VREQT1 VREQT1=23 Binds the DataGuard value to WeatherStation equipment.
VRTYPE1 VRTYPE1=5 Selects voltage/flex voltage input.
VRDATATYPE1 VRDATATYPE1=9012 Selects the NRG 200M wind-direction calculation.
VRLOGMODE1 VRLOGMODE1=1 Enables periodic DataGuard logging.
VRLOGINT1 VRLOGINT1=10 Sets 1-minute logging for test.
VRLIN1 VRLIN1=0 Sets true-north offset to 0,000 degrees.

After test, use normal 10-minute logging when required: VRLOGINT1=13.

RNRG/NRG 200P voltage wind vane

Use VRDATATYPE#=9013 only for the RNRG/NRG 200P wind vane on voltage AI. Supported input types are VRTYPE#=2, 4, or 5. Set TMIN# and TMAX# to the conditioned post-input signal range in mV for this selector. Do not use 9012 for the 200P wind vane.

The controller input must receive a supported conditioned voltage signal. Do not treat the sensor excitation voltage as the analog input signal unless the sensor output is wired directly and has the same usable range. Direct sensor output above 10 V must be conditioned before it is connected to a ProSoft analog input.

For slot 1, choose TMAX1 from the actual voltage range measured at the controller input.

Actual signal at AI Slot 1 setup Use
0..2,5 V VRTYPE1=2, 4, or 5; VRDATATYPE1=9013, TMIN1=0, TMAX1=2500 Use when the conditioned 200P signal is 0..2500 mV at the ProSoft input.
0..5 V VRTYPE1=2, 4, or 5; VRDATATYPE1=9013, TMIN1=0, TMAX1=5000 Use when the conditioned 200P signal is 0..5000 mV. If the spoken shorthand is "0,5 V" but the intended range is 0-5 V, this is the setup to use.
0..10 V VRTYPE1=2, 4, or 5; VRDATATYPE1=9013, TMIN1=0, TMAX1=10000 Use when the conditioned 200P signal is 0..10000 mV. TMAX# above 10000 is invalid for selector 9013.
0..0,5 V VRTYPE1=2, 4, or 5; VRDATATYPE1=9013, TMIN1=0, TMAX1=500 Atypical but code-valid only when verified signal conditioning really delivers 0..500 mV.
Parameter Example Use
VREQT1 VREQT1=23 Reports the analog value under WeatherStation.
VRTYPE1 VRTYPE1=5 Selects the voltage/flex voltage input used for the conditioned signal. Use the input type that matches the delivered signal path.
TMIN1 TMIN1=0 Sets the lower signal range for selector 9013 in mV.
TMAX1 TMAX1=10000 Sets the upper signal range for selector 9013 in mV. The example uses 0..10 V; use 2500, 5000, or 10000 to match the conditioned post-input range.
VRDATATYPE1 VRDATATYPE1=9013 Selects the RNRG/NRG 200P wind-direction calculation.
VRLOGMODE1 VRLOGMODE1=1 Enables periodic DataGuard logging.
VRLOGINT1 VRLOGINT1=10 Sets 1-minute logging for test.
VRLIN1 VRLIN1=0 Sets true-north offset to 0,000 degrees.

The conversion is degrees = 4 + ((signal_mV - TMIN#) / (TMAX# - TMIN#)) * 352. With TMIN1=0 and TMAX1=5000, a 2500 mV signal gives 180,00 degrees, emitted as payload value 18000 because direction uses degrees x 0,01. With TMIN1=0 and TMAX1=10000, 5000 mV gives the same 18000 payload value. The lower end of a valid 9013 range maps to 4,00 degrees, and the upper end maps to 356,00 degrees.

If TMAX# <= TMIN#, TMAX# <= 0, TMAX# > 10000, or VRTYPE# is not a supported voltage input type, DataGuard reports config/setup QC for this selector. Signals below TMIN# set under-range QC, and signals above TMAX# set over-range QC.

After test, use normal 10-minute logging when required: VRLOGINT1=13.

True-north correction with VRLIN#

VRLIN# is an existing analog input offset parameter. For analog wind direction it is used as a true-north correction after the signal has been converted to degrees.

When VRLIN# is changed on an analog wind-direction channel that uses averaging, DataGuard rebuilds the averaging history for that channel from samples with the new correction. The first values after the change can therefore follow warmup behavior before the 10-minute package is complete.

Use the mechanical installation to align the sensor with true north first. Use VRLIN# only as a fine correction for a known mounting offset. It does not change VRTYPE# or the transmitter signal range. For generic analog wind direction and NRG 200M selector 9012, TMIN# and TMAX# are not used for the direction scaling. For RNRG/NRG 200P selector 9013, they define the conditioned signal range in mV before direction conversion.

Example for a 4-20 mA wind direction transmitter on analog channel 1 reporting under WeatherStation:

VREQT1 23#VRDATATYPE1 9004#VRLOGMODE1 1#VRLOGINT1 10#VRTYPE1 0#VRLIN1 0

Use VRTYPE1 2 instead of VRTYPE1 0 when the transmitter output is 0-10 V. Use VRDATATYPE1 1106 when only current wind direction is needed.

Digital input and counter values

Digital input and counter instruments such as wind-speed pulse sensors and tipping-bucket rain gauges require the delivered setup path for the actual installation. Use the released DataGuard selector paths below only when the installed controller, input, sensor, and profile match the documented WeatherStation setup.

Counter-based wind-speed selectors (9008, 9010, 9011)

When the delivered setup includes a supported counter-based wind-speed path, use the matching VRCDATATYPE# value as setup selector for WeatherStation wind-speed reporting. The selector itself is not an emitted payload DTY.

Use VRCDATATYPE#=9008 with VRCPROFILE#=1 for Thies 4.3519, VRCDATATYPE#=9010 with VRCPROFILE#=6 for NRG 40C, or VRCDATATYPE#=9011 with VRCPROFILE#=7 for NRG 40H. Use a selector/profile pair only when the installed wind-speed sensor, wiring, and controller input match that profile.

For normal WeatherStation wind-speed and gust values, use DTY 1104 and 1105. DTY 1123 and 1124 are 2-minute values used during warmup and diagnostics.

Check Required for wind-speed selectors Why it matters
Sensor/model Thies 4.3519 with 9008/1, NRG 40C with 9010/6, or NRG 40H with 9011/7. The selector chooses the calculation; the profile chooses the released sensor formula.
Input path Supported X32/NX32/NX32L high-speed counter with TIN#=1. DataGuard samples the high-speed PCT counter directly. A normal DI event path is not the source for this selector.
NRG 40C input Signal conditioning or a verified clean countable pulse path. NRG 40C is a low-level AC sine-wave sensor and should not be treated as raw direct controller input unless the delivered hardware path makes it countable.
NRG 40H input External supply and pull-up wiring for the open-collector Hall output. The controller input must receive a clean countable pulse signal.

The Thies 4.3519 profile uses V = 0.07881 * f + 0.32, 11 pulses/rev, and 2..630 Hz. The NRG profiles use m/s = Hz * 0.765 + 0.35, so 0 Hz is sent as payload value 35. The NRG sensor cap is 125 Hz; lower RTCU/PCT target caps may still set QC before that sensor cap.

If the installation uses another wind-speed sensor, do not assume an existing profile is correct. Confirm a released matching profile before enabling a wind-speed selector.

Counter-based rain-gauge selector (9009)

When the delivered setup includes Pronamic / Rain Gauge Professional, use VRCDATATYPE# 9009 as setup selector for WeatherStation rain reporting. The selector itself is not an emitted payload DTY.

Profile Tip size Use
VRCPROFILE#=2 0,2 mm/tip Pronamic / Rain Gauge Professional profile for 0,2 mm/tip.
VRCPROFILE#=3 0,1 mm/tip Pronamic / Rain Gauge Professional profile for 0,1 mm/tip.
VRCPROFILE#=4 0,25 mm/tip Pronamic / Rain Gauge Professional profile for 0,25 mm/tip.
VRCPROFILE#=5 0,5 mm/tip Pronamic / Rain Gauge Professional profile for 0,5 mm/tip.

The controller reports interval precipitation as DTY 1107 from accepted pulse delta, scaled as mm x 0,01. It also sends rain-gauge quality/status and additional child values as DTY 1125, 1126, 1127, and 1128. Derived rain rates, rolling sums, events, graphs, and statistics are calculated after the reporting interval by the receiving system.

Formula or derived values

Formula-derived WeatherStation values are not a self-service setup on this page. Use only the DataGuard selectors and source paths that are documented as supported for the installed software.
