FlexVander LX4 pro installation

FlexVander LX4 pro is the current DIN-rail model for installations where the controller is mounted in an electrical cabinet. This installation page gives the controller wiring flow; the IO list gives the terminal, interface, and jumper reference.

Installation choices

Use this page for the controller hardware installation and the FlexVander pump-control wiring flow. Select the pump program before wiring the pump panel.

• FlexVander program 1 is used for one or two pressure pumps without a submersible pump.
• FlexVander program 2 is used for one submersible pump and one or two pressure pumps.
• Use FVAPRG to select the active FlexVander program.
• The LX4 pro outputs are high-side digital outputs. Install interface relays when the pump panel requires potential-free relay contacts.

Before wiring

• Use the IO list and the physical terminal labels for terminal layout.
• Follow the delivered installation specification and applicable electrical safety rules.
• If the controller must be opened for jumper or SIM-card access, remove the SD card and USB cable first.
• When closing the controller, make sure the internal flat cable is not caught between the enclosure parts.

Supply wiring

The controller must be supplied with 8-36 VDC from an external DC power source. Connect positive supply to SUPP and negative supply to PGND.

Negative supply	27 - PGND	Power ground, negative connection.
Positive supply	28 - SUPP	Power supply, positive connection.
Positive supply	29 - SUPP	Power supply, positive connection. The two SUPP terminals are tied together internally.

Keep PGND for the external DC power source connection. Signal ground, digital output ground, and analog ground are filtered from the supply ground and tied together internally. For signal wiring, choose the SGND terminal closest to the signal terminal for best noise immunity.

Digital output supply

The digital output control circuit is supplied separately through DOUT SUPP and DOUT GND. DOUT SUPP is not internally connected to SUPP and must be connected to the intended external DC power source when digital outputs are used.

• Connect digital output positive supply to 30 - DOUT SUPP.
• Connect digital output ground to 39 - DOUT GND.
• Each digital output is a protected high-side switch with a maximum output voltage of 36 VDC and maximum current of 1.5 A per channel.
• The maximum switchable inductance is 20 mH.

Signal and interface wiring

Wire only the interfaces required by the delivered solution. FlexVander uses digital outputs for pump commands and digital inputs for pump operating feedback. Output pulse time is set with FVADOUTT#, and stop output behaviour can be changed with DWCONTACT# where supported by the installation.

• Use Program 1 wiring for pressure pump 1 and pressure pump 2.
• Use Program 2 wiring for submersible pump, pressure pump 1, and pressure pump 2.
• Use Local push buttons only together with the matching FVALOCIN setting.
• Digital inputs are activated by a positive voltage between the input and SGND.
• DIN1 to DIN4 can be configured as normal digital inputs or S0 inputs with hardware jumpers.
• Analog input signals are connected between AINx and AGND. Inputs can be configured for 0-10 VDC or 0-20 mA.
• Analog output signals are connected between AOUTx and AGND. Outputs can be configured for 0-10 VDC or 0-20 mA.
• RS232, RS485 port 1, RS485 port 2, 1-Wire, and wired M-Bus are available on the pluggable screw terminals.

Pressure control

When pressure control is installed, connect the pressure transmitter to the analog input listed in Pressure control. Configure the analog input jumper for the transmitter signal type before commissioning.

Use FVAPRESS, FVAPTRMODE, and FVAPRESSDELAY1/2 for the FlexVander pressure functions.

Energy consumption registration

When an RS485 energy meter is installed, connect it to the RS485 port selected for the project and terminate the RS485 line only at the two physical endpoints. See the energy metering section for the terminal reference.

Mini Weather Station

Connect supported weather and level sensors through the available analog, 1-Wire, or RS485 interface according to the sensor type. Use the mini weather station section as the controller-side terminal reference.

Jumper and service checks

Hardware jumpers are inside the controller. Check the required jumper positions before commissioning.

• RS485 termination jumpers enable or disable the onboard 120 ohm line termination resistors.
• Analog input jumpers select current or voltage input measurement.
• Analog output jumpers select current or voltage output.
• Digital input jumpers for DIN1 to DIN4 select S0 mode or normal digital input mode.

Before handover

• Confirm that the controller supply is connected to the intended 8-36 VDC supply terminals.
• Confirm that digital output supply is connected when digital outputs are used.
• Confirm that the pump program in FVAPRG matches the wired pump layout.
• Confirm that signal wiring uses the correct ground reference: SGND, AGND, or DOUT GND.
• Confirm each pump command output, pump operating feedback input, local push button, pressure reading, energy meter, and weather station value when installed.
• Confirm that the hardware jumpers match the required RS485, analog, and digital input modes.
• Confirm that each communication interface is wired according to the IO list and the delivered installation specification.
