FlexVander DX4i PRO installation

Use this page when installing or servicing a supported FlexVander DX4i PRO controller.

Installation choices

The DX4i PRO uses high-side digital outputs for pump commands. If the pump panel requires potential-free contacts, use interface relays between the controller output and the pump panel.

• FlexVander program 1 is used for two pressure pumps without a submersible pump.
• FlexVander program 2 is used for one submersible pump and two pressure pumps.
• Use FVAPRG to select the active FlexVander program.

Basic installation

Separate the installation into the following cable groups:

1. 8-36 VDC controller supply.
2. High-side digital output wiring or interface relay wiring for pump commands.
3. Pump operating feedback and local push buttons on the digital inputs.
4. Pressure transmitter, energy meter, and sensor wiring when the installation uses these options.

Installation sequence

1. Mount the controller and verify that the supply is within the 8-36 VDC range.
2. Wire the supply according to Supply voltage.
3. Wire pump commands through the listed digital outputs. Add interface relays where the pump panel expects a dry contact.
4. Wire the pump feedback and local push buttons for program 1 or program 2.
5. Wire local push buttons only when the installation is configured to use FVALOCIN.
6. Wire the pressure transmitter and set the analog input jumper when pressure control is used.
7. Wire RS485 equipment and set termination only when the controller is an endpoint on the bus.
8. Verify the FlexVander program, pulse time, contact mode, and pressure settings before handover.

Supply cable

The DX4i PRO is supplied from 8-36 VDC. Positive supply is connected to SUPP, and negative supply is connected to PGND.

The SUPP terminals also supply the high-side digital outputs. Size the supply and return wiring for the total controller and output load.

Signal cable

FlexVander uses digital outputs for pump commands and digital inputs for operating feedback. Output pulse time is set with FVADOUTT#, and stop output behaviour can be changed with DWCONTACT# where supported by the installation.

• Use Program 1 wiring for pressure pump 1 and pressure pump 2.
• Use Program 2 wiring for submersible pump, pressure pump 1, and pressure pump 2.
• Use Local push buttons only together with the matching FVALOCIN setting.

Pressure control

When pressure control is installed, connect the pressure transmitter to the analog input listed in Pressure control. Configure the analog input jumper for the transmitter signal type before commissioning.

Use FVAPRESS, FVAPTRMODE, and FVAPRESSDELAY1/2 for the FlexVander pressure functions.

Energy consumption registration

When an RS485 energy meter is installed, connect it to the RS485 port selected for the project and terminate the RS485 line only at the two physical endpoints. See the energy metering section for the terminal reference.

Mini weather station

Connect supported weather and level sensors through the available analog, 1-Wire, or RS485 interface according to the sensor type. Use the mini weather station section as the controller-side terminal reference.

Before handover

1. Check that the pump program in FVAPRG matches the wired pump layout.
2. Check each output with the connected interface relay or pump panel input before automatic operation is enabled.
3. Check each pump operating feedback input.
4. Check local push buttons, pressure readings, energy readings, and weather station values when installed.
5. Record any jumper changes in the cabinet documentation.
