OceanWatcher Testing

Use this guidance to test OceanWatcher.

Each installed meter must be tested and validated to make sure it delivers valid data.

Water Level Measurement

OceanWatcher measures the water level relative to DVR90Danish Vertical Reference 1990., the Danish vertical reference point.

A survey must be made from the OceanWatcher start point to the DVR90Danish Vertical Reference 1990. zero point:

  1. The DVR90Danish Vertical Reference 1990. zero point is set and marked by a surveyor.
  2. Measure the distance between the start point and the zero point.
    1. The start point is the bottom of the control housing.
  3. Document the measured distance as the offset.

The survey should be carried out by SensorSurvey, which Vikingegaarden A/S works with.

A control measurement of the water level must be made:

  1. Measure the distance between the zero point and the current water surface. In the image, the water level is -700 mm.
  2. Check that the system, for example Emiko, shows and logs the same water level as the control measurement.

Temperature Measurement

OceanWatcher measures the temperature at the water surface.

The temperature measurement must be validated:

  1. The temperature sensor must have a clear line of sight.
    1. The red cone must have a completely clear line of sight down to the water surface.
  2. The physical water-temperature measurement at the surface is made at the same time as a technician reports the actual measured temperature from the meter or system.
    1. The measurement time must be coordinated with Vikingegaarden A/S.
  3. Document the physical water-temperature measurement as water temperature, including the measurement time.
  4. Document the reported water temperature from the meter as reference temperature.
  5. If temperature measurements deviate, adjust the meter EMS value until the deviation is acceptable.

The survey should be carried out by SensorSurvey, which Vikingegaarden A/S works with.

A control measurement of the water temperature must be made:

  1. Measure the water temperature at the surface.
  2. Check that the system, for example Emiko, shows and logs the same water temperature as the control measurement.

Water-Current Measurement

OceanWatcher measures water currents below the water surface.

Water-current measurements must be validated:

  1. Check that the water-current meter is installed and positioned correctly according to the drawing and the installation guide.
  2. Water-current measurement is tested and verified together with the supplier.
