Termination

Serial communication often needs termination so communication can work reliably.

RS485

The standard requires termination at both ends of the network. Therefore, a 120 ohm resistor must be installed at each end as shown in the drawing.

Always finish with a control measurement:

1. Measure across one of the resistors
2. It must always be possible to measure approximately 60 ohm across each resistor
