Use this page before a WeatherStation installation is commissioned. A WeatherStation must be ready as a physical measurement point, a DataGuard reporting setup, and an Emiko equipment point.
Confirm Emiko and ownership
Confirm the Partner that owns daily operation of the WeatherStation.
Confirm that the correct Emiko Site exists and that the Partner can access it in Emiko Console.
Confirm that the WeatherStation equipment is available under the correct Emiko Site before values are relied on.
Confirm which users need access to view measurements, alarms, graphs, or reports.
Confirm controller and data path
WeatherStation uses DataGuard to report selected values to Emiko. Configure and verify the source value first, then configure DataGuard reporting for the same source channel or driver profile.
For RS485/driver instruments, configure the Driver Communication profile first.
For analog transmitters, configure the analog input and scaling first.
For 1-Wire temperature sensors, configure the 1-Wire channel first.
For digital input and counter instruments, confirm that the delivered setup path is available for the installation.
SIM card and mobile connection
WeatherStation depends on a stable mobile connection for remote services, alarms, and Emiko connectivity.
The equipmentThe equipment, for example a ServicePedestal or WaterStation. can be delivered with or without a SIM card.
If the equipment is delivered with an activated SIM card, the system is ready for use.
If the equipment is delivered with an inactive SIM card, the SIM card can be activated online and will work immediately after activation. Click here to start SIM card activation.
General requirements for the SIM card:
Must have data so the equipmentThe equipment, for example a ServicePedestal or WaterStation. can access the Internet
Must be able to send and receive SMS messages
Must have voice so the equipmentThe equipment, for example a ServicePedestal or WaterStation. can place calls and receive voice calls
Important settings:
Voicemail must always be disabled
If voicemail is enabled, it can be disabled, for example by:
Insert the SIM card into a mobile phone and disable voicemail using the phone
Alternatively, contact the SIM card provider and ask them to disable voicemail
Note:
There is no requirement for a static IP address on the SIM card
Plan site and mounting
Sensor placement determines whether the values are representative. Plan the mast, brackets, cable route, service access, and local exposure before installation.
Choose a mounting point where the sensor can measure the intended local condition.
Avoid unnecessary shielding, heat sources, exhaust, reflected heat, vibration, or airflow disturbance near the measuring point.
Plan safe service access for cleaning, inspection, sensor replacement, and calibration checks.
Use installation-specific documentation when a manufacturer requires a defined height, orientation, levelling, or clearance.
Select instruments
Select instruments from the supported WeatherStation and Field Instrument Guide lists. The instrument choice defines the wiring path and setup page.
Use RS485/driver instruments for supported decoded climate or weather sensors such as Thies, GILL, OTT, and Siemens profiles.
Use analog instruments for validated 4-20 mA or 0-10 V transmitters.
Use digital input/counter instruments for pulse-based values such as rain gauges when the setup path is released for the installation.
Use 1-Wire only for simple temperature measurement where the product IO list supports the bus.
Verify controller supply, antenna placement, and mobile connection.
Verify each connected sensor against the delivered wiring and source setup.
Verify that DataGuard reports the value under WeatherStation with the correct equipment type and data type.
Verify live values in Emiko before relying on alarms, history, sharing, or reports.
