NaviGuard AtoN monitoring and operation

Use this page to review an Aid to Navigation (AtoN) connected to NaviGuard and understand which monitoring and operating functions are available for that instrument.

Model-dependent capability: Available information and controls depend on the connected instrument model and the installed NaviGuard software.

Before You Start

Confirm that the remote site is online and returning fresh data.
Identify the connected AtoN instrument type, model, and monitoring path.
Use the instrument-specific reference when its model, communication setup, or available values must be checked.

Do This

View the connected AtoN instrument

Open the remote site and select the connected instrument in NaviGuard.
Check that the displayed instrument type and model match the installed AtoN instrument.
Review communication freshness, visible alarms, current condition, and the information available for that integration.
Use only controls shown for the connected instrument and installed NaviGuard software.

Review available information

Supported operation, condition, alarms, power data, and settings for navigation, marker, sector, and leading lights.
Available condition, alarms, communication state, and measurements for Racon and radar beacons.
Current activity and configured current-based alarms from PowerMonitor.
Available supply, battery, charging, and backup-power information from PowerGuard and related site power devices.

Understand capability

Capability	Meaning
Unsupported	The connected model does not provide the value or action.
Read-only	NaviGuard can receive the value, but the documented integration does not provide an operating control.
Read/write	NaviGuard can receive the value and change it.
Ordinary command	The released control is intended for normal operation.
Restricted service command	The action requires a separate service procedure and is not part of ordinary operation.

Use available controls

NaviGuard shows an operating control only when the selected model and installed software support it. If no operating control is shown, use the connection for monitoring only.

Lantern operating modes and settings are documented under Supported Settings and Settings. Other AtoN instruments use their own supported controls.

Do not use factory reset, reset, positioning, override, or another restricted service command as an ordinary operating action.

Verify

After sending a command, wait until NaviGuard displays the state returned by the instrument. Sending the command alone does not confirm the result.

If It Fails

Record the site, connected instrument type, model, visible state, and last fresh data. Verify the monitoring path and communication setup before escalating the issue. Do not interpret an unlabelled raw status or error value.
