OceanWatcher Settings

Use this page as the product-specific setup flow for OceanWatcher. Configure the OceanWatcher program settings first, then configure each sensor through the relevant analog input, 1-Wire, DataGuard, or driver communication page.

Best Practice

Version

The system must run the specified ProSoft version or a later version.

Program Version

Enheder

Note

ProSoft

5.00 All Use the 'VER' command to query the current version

Basic Settings

Configure the OceanWatcher program state and display name before sensor setup.

Factory Setup

OWAFAC loads the factory-defined OceanWatcher defaults.

Command Index Range Format Factory Example
OWAFAC - - Loads OceanWatcher factory defaults. - OWAFAC

Program

Enable or disable the OceanWatcher runtime.

Parameter Index Range Format Factory Example
OWAPRG - 0..1 0 = Disabled
1 = Enabled
0 OWAPRG 1

Name

Set the equipment name used in messages and service displays. If no name is configured, the system name is used.

Parameter Index Range Format Factory Example
OWANAME - Max 20 characters Letters or numbers - OWANAME Viking

Level Sensors

OceanWatcher can use up to two level sensor channels. Active parser-safe source selection is limited to analog input 1 and analog input 2. Serial radar setup is configured through shared driver communication profiles.

Measurement Source

Parameter Index Range Format Factory Example
OWAMLEV - 0..2 0 = Disabled
1 = Analog input 1
2 = Analog input 2
0 OWAMLEV 1

Serial Radar

For Siemens radar over RS485 Modbus, configure the driver profile on Driver Communication Settings before using the measured value in OceanWatcher or DataGuard. For the current DataGuard water-level flow, set DEVDATATYPE# 9007 on the matching driver profile.

Analog Level Sensor

For a level sensor connected to an analog input, set the analog input scaling before DataGuard reporting. For the current OceanWatcher water-level flow, use VRDATATYPE# 9007.

Minimum Measurement Range

Parameter Index Range Format Default Example
TMIN# 1..32 -32768..32767 Engineering value 0 TMIN1 10

Maximum Measurement Range

Parameter Index Range Format Default Example
TMAX# 1..32 -2147483647..2147483647 Engineering value 0 TMAX1 100

Damping Value

Recommended level signal damping is VRDMPV# 900 for 90.0% damping.

Parameter Index Range Format Default Example
VRDMPV# 1..32 0..1000 Percent of measurement range x 10 800 VRDMPV1 900

Damping Time

Recommended damping time is VRDMPT# 1000 ms.

Parameter Index Range Format Default Example
VRDMPT# 1..16 0..10000 Milliseconds 100 VRDMPT1 80

Water-Level Reference

Use the OceanWatcher water-level reference parameters with the same index as the DataGuard 9007 profile. They are station/profile parameters for the OceanWatcher water-level calculation, not analog input scaling values.

Parameter Index Range Format Factory Example
OWAWLREF# 1..2 -32767..32767 Radar reference point relative to DVR90 in mm. - OWAWLREF1 3200
OWAWLDKLAT# 1..2 -32767..32767 DKLAT/LAT zero relative to DVR90 in mm. If DKLAT is 900 mm below DVR90, use -900. - OWAWLDKLAT1 -900

DataGuard 9007 uses these formulas:

Legacy Reference Offset

OWAFORSK# is a legacy OceanWatcher offset used by the older OceanWatcher runtime path. It is not the primary reference parameter for the current DataGuard 9007 water-level flow.

Temperature Sensors

OceanWatcher temperature measurement can be configured through analog inputs, 1-Wire, or delivered driver communication. Configure the source first, then configure DataGuard only when the value must be logged or exported to Emiko.

Analog Temperature Sensor

Minimum Measurement Range

Parameter Index Range Format Default Example
TMIN# 1..32 -32768..32767 Engineering value 0 TMIN1 10

Maximum Measurement Range

Parameter Index Range Format Default Example
TMAX# 1..32 -2147483647..2147483647 Engineering value 0 TMAX1 100

Damping Value

Parameter Index Range Format Default Example
VRDMPV# 1..32 0..1000 Percent of measurement range x 10 800 VRDMPV1 900

Damping Time

Parameter Index Range Format Default Example
VRDMPT# 1..16 0..10000 Milliseconds 100 VRDMPT1 80

1-Wire Temperature Sensor

For 1-Wire temperature sensors, configure discovery, channel mapping, alarms, and optional DataGuard export on 1-Wire Temperature Setup and Alarms. If the measured value must be exported, continue on DataGuard via 1-Wire.

Infrared Temperature Sensor

For FPI Thermalert sensors delivered with OceanWatcher, the emissivity value is normally set to 0.93 for water-surface temperature measurement. See Temperature Sensor Settings for the short product setup note.

Data to Emiko (DataGuard)

Use DataGuard when an OceanWatcher value must be logged or sent to Emiko. For analog sensors, configure the analog input first; for 1-Wire sensors, configure the 1-Wire channel first; for driver values, configure the driver profile first.

For OceanWatcher water level, 9007 is the current DataGuard selector for both analog radar and supported driver radar. OK/suspect output sends DTY 1220, DTY 1201, DTY 1221, and DTY 1222. Fatal setup, source, range, stale, or warmup states send DTY 1220 only.

Parameter Index Range Format Factory OceanWatcher example
VREQT# 1..32 0..35 Emiko equipment type. Use 20 for OceanWatcher. 0 VREQT1 20
VRDATATYPE# 1..32 0..7999, plus supported selectors Emiko data type or supported selector. Use 9007 for OceanWatcher analog radar water level. 0 VRDATATYPE1 9007
VRLOGMODE# 1..32 0..4 0 = Disabled, 1 = Periodic, 2 = Change, 3 = Event, 4 = Hybrid. 1 VRLOGMODE1 4
VRLOGINT# 1..32 0..31 Periodic log interval selector. 19 VRLOGINT1 19
VRLOGHYS# 1..32 0..32767 Minimum value change before a new threshold-based value is sent. 0 VRLOGHYS1 5

For a supported LR110/LR120 driver radar, use the matching driver profile index and set DEVEQT# 20, DEVDATATYPE# 9007, and DEVLOGDATA# 1 on DataGuard via Driver Communication. Use DEVDATATYPE# 1201 only when the driver primary value should be sent directly without the OceanWatcher 9007 package.

For the full shared reference, see DataGuard via analog inputs, DataGuard via 1-Wire, and DataGuard via driver communication.

Current Meter

If a SonTek SL500 current meter is delivered with the installation, configure the current meter model and calibration.

Model

Parameter Index Range Format Factory Example
OWAMCUR - 0..1 0 = Disabled
1 = SonTek SL500
0 OWAMCUR 1

Calibration

Parameter Index Range Format Factory Example
OWACALI - 0..3600 Compass calibration in degrees. 0 OWACALI 20

Direct SonTek Commands

Direct SonTek write commands are only relevant for systems delivered with SonTek/VD driver support. For command details, see the current meter documentation.

Retired Models

Retired units can be delivered with both internal and external GSM antennas.

GSM Antenna

Set whether the unit must use an external GSM antenna.

Parameter Index Range Format Default Example
GSMANT 1 0..1

0 = Internal GSM antenna

1 = External GSM antenna connector

Note: Internal/external switching is available only on AX9 turbo and AX9 encore. On other supported controllers, runtime keeps external antenna mode.
